Martin, thanks so much. This is a great idea. We have tried this and it seems to be helping him relax.

Hi Patti, welcome to the community! Even though this is pretty new, it seems like there are already lots of helpful and kind people here. I just wanted to let you know you’re not alone.

Our family has an annual reunion, too, with all the generations and remarkably, and so far, we all do make the event. We meet at a campgrounds we’ve reserved. Everyone gets to participate in what they like to do there: setting up camp, prepping food, taking a hike if they can, singing songs, telling ghost stories around the campfire. We generally all buy a family reunion T-shirt with a photo of us all from the last reunion. The effort we make to spend this time together leaves us all re-energized with the specialness of our family. Maybe that’s why we keep on coming back.

My uncle is much like your Dad — he eats what we put in front of him but seems to have lost his appetite for food, and maybe living, since my Aunt died last year. I’ve been trying Ensure and that helps a little. Lately, we’ve been taking him on short “road trips” to the lake nearby and renting a rowboat and those seem to be helping him a lot. Maybe you can try something like that for your Dad.
