Attention all CALIFORNIA POParents!! You and I have very important and under-used benefits — in the form of cash— from the Family Leave Act. Benefits pay out as much as $1,216 a week.
The law provides substantial money to those who need to take time off from work to care for aging or disabled family members as well as to bond with family members. Eligible workers can take up to six weeks of paid leave in a 12-month period to care for a sick loved one or bond with a new child. You need not take all of your paid leave at once; to best suit the demands of your family situation, you can break your leave time from work into two or three segments, single days or even hours at a time.
If you plug your salary into the department’s online benefit calculator at edd.ca.gov to see how much you would get.
Good news: California has recently increased the amount of maximum benefits, the paperwork has become easier and they’ve eliminated the previous waiting period.
So, check out how YOU and your family can collect your valuable funds and finally be able to attend Dad’s doctor visits, be there when there’s an emergency for your aging Mom or just spend time with a dying loved one, while earning money to do so.
