    Hi Mike,

I just joined a few months ago, and have found the forums very useful and the people here are very friendly and ready to help. It’s nice to know that there are other people who are going through the same thing we are and offer help and support when it’s greatly needed.

I’m not an expert but here’s my advice…

Go with her to some social activities until she starts to feel comfortable. Help by introducing her to others in her community that she might have things in common with.  If she is a churchgoer, maybe there are social events there.  If she like athletic things, the tennis court or gym can a place to make more friends.   The more she is able to do this, the more comfortable she will become at socializing.

Many of my friends and I were raised by our grandmothers when our single mom’s had to work. They made our breakfasts, walked us to school and were there to hear about our day when we got home. Now it’s our grandparents who need some of that “raising” from us. Can’t be that’s such a big deal, can it?
